Every family is different. Some have two heterosexual parents living together with two children, but in today’s America those are the exception rather than the norm. Some people are choosing to experiment with alternative family structures, others just find themselves living with in-laws, step-families, blended families, or friends of no legal relationship.
Some families raise eyebrows, especially those where former lovers stay on, or there are two mommies or two daddies, or where a New Woman is living with her wife. For these families especially it can be difficult to find a therapist because they don’t know quite how their alternative lifestyle will be received.
Jill has worked with a whole variety of shapes and sizes of family. As far as she is concerned it is love that makes a family, not legal or social blessing. Whether your family is causing you grief, or just social reaction to it, you can rest assured that Jill is open to working with any configuration, even Mom, Dad and 2.4 kids!
